The Friends of Price James Library are excited to be hosting “Celebrating MO’s 200th” in honor
of Missouri’s Bicentennial on Missouri Statehood Day Tuesday August 10th at the Tipton
City Park! Thanks to the generous donations from businesses and individuals in the community
it will be a family friendly evening at the new lake shelter house with free Ice Cream Factory
ice cream to the first 300 attendees. The evening will also include the dedication of the new
shelter house and tables, a brief history of Tipton and its role in Missouri history. Ingrid Keene
of Tipton, sponsored by Price James Library, one of four winners in the state bicentennial
poster contest will have her poster on display.
Price James Library will be having a Missouri themed page coloring event at the library and
will be doing Missouri story time at the park during the ice cream social. Other events planned
include the Tipton Fire Dept fire trucks, Co-Mo Connect bucket truck, Tipton 4-H Club face
painting, and live music throughout the evening.
All money donated by the many generous donors will be used towards funding this fun community
event!
The Friends of Price James Library will also be selling hamburgers and hotdogs, chips and
water that evening. Everyone can come for the evening with their lawn chairs, eat their supper,
enjoy free ice cream, let their family participate in the events and The Friends of the Price James Library
